At some point in her lives, a girl dreams of marrying a rockstar. I certainly went through that phase, though the man of my dreams wasn’t exactly the average rock or pop star. He is THE Paul McCartney. I know, naive.

Anyway, I am watching this not-so-old Japanese series called Mukodono, because I had nothing else to watch…I am running out of Jdoramas to watch, sad. Mukodono (My Husband) tells of the story of cool hot rockstar Sakuraba Yuichiro (who I read was patterned after GACKT??? Shiiiit, more reasons to finish the series, eh?) and his secret married life — how he tries to adjust to his new extended family (while keeping it secret from the adoring public) and how everyone’s lives changes in the process.

It is a feel-good series, and it helps that Nagase Tomoya is playing the hot and (at the same time) dorky rockstar-husband Sakuraba Yuichiro to Sakura (Takeuchi Yuko). Sakuraba Sakura, hehe. I am not much into love stories, but I am pleasantly surprised that Mukodono does not dwell too much on romance, but more on family life in general. The story and the cast may not be enough for me to consider the series a favorite, but what makes it unforgettable are the well-chosen songs. The dorama theme “7 Truths 7 Lies” as well as the insert song “Hitoribocchi no Haburashi” always make me smile. I especially look forward to the opening clip where they had a pic of Yuichiro and Sakura, and Yuichiro was in a sexy hakama — which makes me wish Schatz wears one on our wedding day *kilig*.

When I first read the title Hitoribocchi no Haburashi, I had to laugh. Seriously, a song about a toothbrush? But then, I heard the entire song and translated the lyrics, and realized that Tsunku (the guy who composed the song) was brilliant. I agree with other people that he should also produce male artists — not just the likes of Morning Musume. Sort of Mang Johnny’s competition?? Haha. All this time, I had Nagase Tomoya in line for the ‘Miles Edgeworth auditions’. Gaaaassss, it took me 3 days to realize he is way better as Godot! OK, he is old enough, macho enough and hot enough to be the caffeine-guzzling lawyer. He certainly can act cocky and high-and-mighty so I think he is perfect. ^_^ I hate this Diego pic below, but it was all I could find.

In other PW news (as posted by Dardsie, of course), there are rumours of a live-action Gyakuten Saiban going around and apparently, young actor Hiraoka Yuta is being tapped to play Naruhodou Ryuuichi/Phoenix Wright. Opposite him as Edgeworth/Mitsurugi is *gasp* Okada Yoshinori. Shit.

OK, first, Hiraoka Yuta (left photo, below)  – his features are a little too chiseled to be Naruhodou. He needs to pack on some pounds because he is a kinda waifish. But hello, MY version is way hotter! I suppose they can’t sign Tsumabuki up because of Tenchijin, haha!

Now, Okada Yoshinori (right photo) – for those who think he looks familiar, he was Ashiya’s older brother in Hana Kimi. Not sure if I remember him in Nobuta, though. ANYWAY, come on! I am sure there is no lack of good-looking actors in Japan. Can’t they pick another one?? He looks like the younger brother of Namase Katsuhisa, hehehehe.

My own review:

Hilarious! Not as hilarious as Densha Otoko, but close. Nagase Tomoya is very convincing as a yakuza boss-in-waiting, and a not-so-sharp high school student. As a student, he appears to be very gentle, especially when he finally warmed up to his teacher and classmates. He volunteers to be the class president, because he wanted to learn how to create a good ‘gumi’ (group), which he equates to a Yakuza gumi.

One of my most favorite parts include the Agnes exercises. It was so funny watching a tall, macho guy like him trying to do the drills, but always out of beat. 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2 Agnes!

His dad reminds me so much of Mojica-sensei, I don’t know why. Hehe.

Tanaka Koki (of the uber popular group KAT-TUN) shines as Kazu. He is a natural comedian. I really think he could surpass Kame and Jin in the acting department.

Oh, did I say how much I love “Sorafune”? ^_~ A couple of weeks after we finished the dorama, I couldn’t get this TOKIO song outta my head.
